We are rightfully warned to carefully select friends so that we are not corrupted by them. But we can go too far.
Totally avoiding non-Christian friends might seem like a good idea, because in theory they will be avoiding the same pitfalls that you are trying to avoid.
But it is every Christian’s duty to grow the kingdom, to make disciples who will then make disciples.
As the proverb says, not having things to clean up doesn’t necessarily mean that all is well. Sometimes oxen might mess things up, but you can’t have a harvest without them.
